Windows, front doors, balcony and terrace doors are vitally important when it comes to making your house burglar-proof. Even in their standard equipment, VEKA profiles provide a high degree of security: they are made of rigid PVC of high impact strength and are strengthened all round by steel reinforcements both in the leaf and in the frame in accordance with VEKA processing guide lines. This creates additional stability and makes it more difficult to break in. Furthermore, front doors made of VEKA profiles are equipped with welded additional reinforcements at the edges.

VEKA profiles can also be equipped with special burglary-resistant glass types and fittings. It is important, however, that profiles, glass type and fittings complement each other.

Special multilayer panes prevent burglars from smashing the panes. They consist of two or more panes which are interconnected by highly tearproof and visoplastic foils. In the event of damage, the glass splinters will cling to the foil thus keeping the glazed opening closed.

The combination of different pane thicknesses and foil layers results in differing security properties and can be chosen in accordance with individual requirements: shatterproof, non- collapsing or slip-resistant.

The fittings move the windows and control different functions such as opening, closing or tilting. But they also contribute considerably to the protection against burglaries. Locking points, mushroom-shaped pegs that cannot be pulled out and lockable window handles make it more difficult to prise the window open.
